Why I Have Not Upgraded to Saucy

You may have noticed that each time there has been an Ubuntu upgrade in the past, I have reported on it.  I had every intention of reporting on Saucy once I upgraded.  That is the catch!   Saucy hoses my computer.

The problem I am having is that I connect to the Internet using Realtek wifi.  Specifically, I need the driver rtl8188ce to work.  It doesn’t.  The last time I checked, Saucy still hosed my internet.

I have attempted to upgrade to Saucy on three separate occasions.  The first was when the beta was released.  No luck.  Then I tried again once Saucy was in final release.  No dice.  I waited a couple of months and tried again.  This time, it looked like Saucy was going to work on one disk so I tried it on my other disk (I dual-boot because I can’t run Steam for Linux and Steam for Windows on the same computer.)

Well, this last time, not only did the Internet connection fail, but Saucy also clobbered the GRUB master boot record.  That’s it for me, folks!   See you with Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr).  (Of course, I will still report on other things in the mean time….)
