You may have run across gnome-blog if you have spent any time wandering around Synaptic or the Software Center. It is a very light blog poster – no images or tags, just the ability to add links.

One reason I like to use it sometimes is that it is indeed so light – no clutter. Another reason is that WordPress is among the sites it recognizes. Not all quick bloggers can handle WordPress.

The command to download gnome-blog is simple:

sudo apt-get install gnome-blog

Right now, with Quantal, I have spotted one bug. I tried to use italics – which gnome-blog will normally handle. An error message came up that gnome-blog had closed unexpectedly. I had to reconnect to but I did not lose my post.

Gnome-blog also handles spell checking, absolutely essential in this day and age. If you are looking for a light and easy blog poster, it is worth giving gnome-blog a try.
