Ubuntu Tweak 0.5.14 Released

Ubuntu Tweak 0.5.14 has just beenreleased. It is the latest bug fix release of the Ubuntu Tweak 0.5.x series.

This version improves the PPA purge feature. Tualatrix explains that he tried the GNOME 3 PPA with Natty, but it wouldn’t work. When he tried to downgrade the packages, he found a bug in Ubuntu Tweak.

One improvement is to show an error message and stop if packages cannot be downgraded. That lets you fix the error by using sudo apt-get remove pkg-name. After that step, PPA purge will run successfully.

Now, with PPA purge, you can downgrade all GNOME 3 related packages with select and click.

If you have not already downloaded Ubuntu Tweak, I heartily recommend it. You can get it by typing:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tualatrix/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-tweak

You’re welcome. I”m also trying to keep an eye out for Ubuntu 0.6, which is in the works. It’s supposed to be a good bit different. Knowing Tualatrix’s work, it will be even better.
